Installation
Install highsea with Docker, or on Unraid, Synology or TrueNAS, and get to its setup screen.
Written for highsea 0.1.0. highsea runs as one Docker container, wherever you run it. Each guide below ends at highsea's setup screen, which takes about five minutes.
Before you start
Check the prerequisites: a 64-bit machine with Docker or a supported NAS, a folder for your downloads and films on one disk, a few ports and a free TMDB account.
Choose where highsea runs
| Where | How you install it | Network | Checked on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Linux, macOS or Windows | A compose file and docker compose up | The host's own network on Linux, published ports on macOS and Windows | Docker Engine 29.8 |
| Unraid | highsea's template on the Docker page | Published ports | Unraid 7.3.4 |
| Synology | A project in Container Manager | Published ports | DSM 7.4.1 |
| TrueNAS | Install via YAML under Apps | The host's own network | TrueNAS 25.10.7 |
On the host's own network, apps find the server by themselves. With published ports they still find it on most networks, and when one doesn't, you give it the server's address.
Docker on Linux, macOS or Windows
Docker Compose on any machine. The other guides build on this one.
Unraid
A template for the Docker page, with Unraid's shares.
Synology
A Container Manager project on DSM 7.2 or later.
TrueNAS
A custom app from YAML on TrueNAS 25.04 or later.
After installing
Recommended setup covers what to set up next: folders, indexers, quality, subtitles, a VPN, remote access and backups. Coming from Radarr and qBittorrent, bring your library across.
