Move from Radarr and qBittorrent

Bring your films, profiles, tags and torrents into highsea, without moving a file.

Written for highsea 0.1.0, Radarr 3 or later (its API v3), and qBittorrent 4.5.0 or later.

Settings › Migration reads Radarr and qBittorrent through their own APIs and changes nothing in either. Your films and downloads stay where they are on disk; highsea adopts them in place. Only the owner sees Migration.

Do Radarr first, then qBittorrent. highsea uses Radarr's grab history to link each torrent to its film.

Before you start

  • highsea can see your files. The folders Radarr and qBittorrent use must be mounted into highsea's container, under /data. If Radarr sees your films at /movies and highsea sees them at /data/media/movies, that's fine: path mappings handle it.
  • highsea's folders are set. The films and downloads folders from setup should be the ones holding your existing films and downloads, or contain them.
  • Keep both programs running until the import has finished. You stop qBittorrent near the end.

Path mappings

Each card on the Migration page has Path mappings. Add one when the other program sees a folder under a different path from highsea:

Their pathhighsea's path
/movies/data/media/movies
/downloads/data/downloads

When more than one mapping fits a path, the longest one wins. With no mappings, the paths are taken to be the same for both.

Bring Radarr across

Connect

In the Radarr card, enter:

  • Address: Radarr's address as highsea reaches it, with the port, such as http://192.168.1.20:7878. Inside Docker, localhost is highsea's own container, so use the machine's address or Radarr's container name.
  • API key: from Radarr's Settings › General › Security.

Choose Test. highsea says which version of Radarr it reached and how many films it has.

Preview

Choose Preview to see what would come across before anything does:

  • Root folders: each of Radarr's root folders, and whether highsea can use it. A root folder outside highsea's folders shows Can't use; mount it, or add a path mapping, and preview again.
  • Quality profiles: each of Radarr's profiles becomes the nearest of highsea's by its cutoff. Change any of them, or choose Bring it across as it is to make a copy in highsea.
  • Bring the naming format and file settings across: Radarr's folder and file formats, colon replacement, hardlinks and permissions. If highsea can't use Radarr's naming format, it says why and keeps its own.
  • What can't come across: indexers and download clients. Radarr's API never hands out their passwords and keys, so add your indexers again from Go to Indexers. You don't need a download client; highsea downloads by itself.

Tags and Radarr's blocklist come across too.

Import

Choose Import. You can leave the page; the import carries on, and the card shows its progress when you come back. Each film's files are checked again by highsea and kept where they are.

If it stops, choose Import again. It carries on where it left off and skips what's already in highsea, so running it twice is safe.

Bring qBittorrent across

Connect

In the qBittorrent card, enter its WebUI address, such as http://192.168.1.20:8080, and its username and password. Leave both empty if qBittorrent lets highsea's address in without signing in.

Choose Test. highsea needs qBittorrent 4.5.0 or later.

Preview

  • Save paths: where qBittorrent keeps each torrent's data, and whether highsea can use it.
  • Categories: each category, and the folder its torrents go to in highsea.
  • How many torrents are ready, how many are already in highsea, how many are outside its folders, and how many are linked to films Radarr grabbed.

Import

Choose Import. Each torrent comes across paused, with its category, limits and totals, pointing at the data already on disk. highsea checks each one's data once.

Stop qBittorrent, then resume

When the checks are done, stop qBittorrent. Then choose Resume torrents and confirm with qBittorrent is stopped, resume.

Two clients writing to the same files can damage them, which is why highsea waits for you.

Afterwards

  • Add your indexers in Indexers, from the catalog or as Torznab feeds. Prowlarr's and Jackett's feeds work as they are.
  • Look through Movies. Any film that couldn't come across is listed in the Radarr card, with the reason.
  • When you're happy with highsea, stop Radarr too. Keep both programs' config folders for a while, in case you want to look something up.
